An Instagram and Photographers’ favorite!
Chefchaouen is arguable the most photographed city in Morocco. Up in the mountains with amazing landscapes, rewarding max!
My guess is that this “blue city” is painted blue for practical reasons at that time. Soon after (maybe), the charming mystical streets of blue drew tourists and gave tourism a huge boost. From then, people continued painting EVERYTHING blue.
However, it is believed that the “real reason” is simply the Jewish refugees (who were the early settlers) trying to keep mosquitoes away!
