NOPE, French Toast isn’t French!
The origins of the French toast though not entirely certain, but legend has it that an innkeeper by the name of Joseph French created it. The name “French toast” was first used in 17th century England and brought to America by the early settlers.
In France though, French toast is called “pain perdu”, which means “lost bread”.
Why lost bread?
Because originally, people made French toast from stale bread that would otherwise have been thrown away.
How is this as a fun fact?
